Garbage Collection
Canora’s residential customers receive weekly garbage collection that begins at 8:00 a.m. Garbage is not collected on weekends or statutory holidays. Collection falling on a statutory holiday moves forward one day. Residents garbage that is left for pickup should be in a can or suitably bundled. Tires, furniture, appliances, and construction debris will not be collected and must be taken to the landfill. Garbage pick-up fees are included in Canora’s residential property taxes. Landfill
Canora’s landfill is monitored by a contractor and users are required to pay a fee and sort their refuse before depositing it into the site.
The landfill is open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and closed on statutory holidays.
Winter hours are 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Summer hours take effect May 7 and are 10 a.m. to 12 (noon) and 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Items that can be composted, including grass and tree clippings, can be deposited in the landfill at no charge.

Blue Bin Recycling
The Town of Canora has blue bins located on the Service Road across from Sarcan Recycling. These blue bins are for the collection of paper and cardboard products. The big white bin at Sarcan is for the collection of household plastics and tin.

GREEN Bin Recycling
There are several green dumpsters in Canora available for disposing of grass clippings. They are located at:
- North and South ends of Mary Street
- On Service Road at Recycling Centre by Sarcan
- Two at corner of 4th Avenue East and 3rd Street
- Corner of 1st Avenue West and 1st Street West
- 4th Street back lane of Community Hill
- Bush Avenue and Nelson Street
- 3rd Street back lane of Swimming Pool
- South end of Main Street
- Green Space on Parker Crescent South end
