Located in the thick, black soil zone of the Parkland Region, Canora is surrounded by farmland that has few limits in terms of crop or livestock production. Boasting a population of 2,754, Canora offers an economical cost of living with the average cost of a dwelling being $66,391. As a result, of being situated in the “Heart of Good Spirit Country”, tourism has become a more important aspect of Canora’s development. The town is centrally-located among and minutes away from several lake and attractions , including Crystal Lake, Good Spirit Provincial Park, Duck Mountain Provincial Park, the National Doukhobour Heritage Village and Forts Pelly and Livingstone.
The Economic Development Department is responsible for:
- Supporting and facilitating desired residential, commercial and industrial development
- Work with existing businesses
- Provide small business loan support
- Maintain, expand and improve local employment opportunities
- Work closely with the Economic Development Committee developing our economic strategy
